Manager, Software Engineering – K8s:
The Manager, Software Engineering - K8s leads the build-out, development, and management of a team of developers responsible for creating and maintaining systems, platforms, and tools that support T-Mobile’s internal and external business needs. This role is critical in delivering scalable software solutions, building technical strategy, and collaborating closely with product and IT partners. The ideal candidate is a technical leader who can coach a high-performing team responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex issues across Kubernetes networking, storage, and compute layers, driving continuous improvement through data-driven insights and DevOps best practices.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and manage a team of developers by setting direction, providing coaching, and conducting performance reviews.
- Ensure project deliverables meet deadlines, quality, and budget requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement across development practices, tooling, processes, and security/compliance adherence.
- Manage technical relationships with vendors, influence roadmap discussions, and advocate for key platform features.
- Hire and onboard new talent, improve team productivity, and scale the engineering capabilities as needed.
- Drive a culture of automation, resilience, and continuous improvement, contributing to the evolution of T-Mobile’s platform engineering and cloud infrastructure strategies.
- Drive Resolution of platform-related customer tickets, issue diagnosis, incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-mortems, implementing automation to prevent recurrence to ensure reliability and seamless user experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and IT partners across multiple ongoing projects.
- Support strategic initiatives and ensure long-term platform stability and adaptability.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in a computer programming related field
- Overall experience for the role as 10-12+ years, managing scrum team of 8-10 people with total experience of managing a team as high as 5 years
Must Have Skills:
- Kubernetes - Open for all tools
- Cloud Computing [AWS, Azure or GCP] - AWS or Azure is mandatory
- Software Engineering, Experience in modern Mobile and Web stack [React, Node, Python etc.]
- API development
- CI/CD
- Should have advanced level knowledge on Kubernetes with expertise in managing large-scale, production Kubernetes clusters
- Should have exposure working in Production environment
- Experience with GitOps, Terraform, and Ansible for cloud provisioning and configuration management
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, Splunk, Open Telemetry
Nice To Have:
- Familiarity with CNAPP platforms (e.g., Wiz, Prisma Cloud, Orca, etc.) and CSPM/CWPP principles.
- Experience in Generative AI
