Job Description
As the Chapter Lead for DevOps & Testing, you will lead a team of DevOps and Testing engineers (Chapter) across multiple product teams (Pods) within Ramboll Tech in collaboration with the markets. This role is responsible for driving the technical roadmap, fostering innovation, and ensuring the implementation of best practices in DevOps and software testing. Additionally, the role includes acting as a Product Owner (Pod Lead) for specific product pods, facilitating the end-to-end delivery of pods to deliver high value to Ramboll’s business units.
The DevOps & Testing Chapter Lead works closely with business Product Owners, Engineering Subject Matter Experts, and the other Ramboll Tech Global Chapter Leads to ensure alignment with business priorities, while also providing mentorship, training, and support to Citizen Developers across Ramboll.
What You Will Do
- Ramboll Tech strategy involvement:
- Collaborate with the Ramboll Tech Leadership team and the other Ramboll Tech Chapter Leads to drive architectural decisions, technology stack selections, and development best practices.
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine the DevOps & Testing strategy to support Ramboll Tech’s goals. This includes close alignment of the technology stack with the Technology Architectural team.
- Advance Ramboll’s innovation process by assessing, commenting on and promoting DevOps and testing ideas.
- Chapter financials & growth:
- Manage the chapter budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Manage capacity based on validated portfolio needs, anticipating skills requirements and enabling dynamic staffing solutions.
- Build a high-performance team by driving hiring initiatives, evaluating talent, and facilitating internal growth.
- Establish collaboration with external software companies and consultants to adapt proven DevOps & testing practices.
- Chapter leadership & talent development:
- Mentor, coach, and grow the careers of team members within the DevOps & Testing Chapter, fostering an environment of continuous learning and development.
- Oversee performance evaluations of chapter members, focusing on career development and coaching.
- Ensure all members of the chapter have clear goals and professional development plans.
- Technical chapter expertise:
- Be comfortable to work with the following personas on a technical level: Product Owners, Software Developers, Cloud Engineers, Enterprise and Solution Architects, Quality Assurance Engineers, Agile Coaches/Scrum Masters, Subject Matter Experts, Business Analysts, Citizen Developers and other Global Chapter Leads (especially Product Management, Agile, Full-Stack and Low/No-Code Chapter Lead).
- DevOps: Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their DevOps ecosystems.
- Software development: Proficiency in programming languages (such as Python, Bash, PowerShell) for scripting and automation tasks. Understanding microservices architecture and API management supports the development of scalable, efficient solutions.
- Testing & QA: Strong understanding of test automation frameworks (like Selenium or JUnit) and their integration into CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with performance and security testing tools helps ensure the application meets quality standards.
- Monitoring & Observability: Proficiency in tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack for monitoring application health and performance.
- Collaboration with the business units & Pod involvement:
- Act as a liaison between the DevOps & Testing Chapter, the Enterprise Architectural team, and various Pods, ensuring alignment with overall product and business objectives.
- Provide guidance and support to Pods by partnering with Product Owners (Pod Leads) to implement and optimise workflows that integrate seamlessly with the Pods’ objectives.
- Taking the role as Product Owner (Pod Lead) for non-business-related Pods.
- Facilitate the adoption of DevOps and testing in the markets by supporting citizen developers in Pods and knowledge networks (Guilds).
How You Will Succeed In Your Role
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in software development.
- 3+ years of leadership experience and managing of teams.
- Experience leading agile teams in software environments.
- Leadership skills:
- Proven ability to lead and mentor developers at various levels of experience.
- Expertise in Agile methodology and fostering an Agile culture.
- Engagement and relationship-building skills with business units.
- Strong intercultural awareness and experience managing remote global teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated servant leadership qualities, focusing on the growth and development of team members.
- Clear and proactive stakeholder management through regular follow-ups: managing expectations, gathering feedback and mediating conflicting priorities.
